Heritage

A Tradition of Floral Excellence

Founded in 1952 by Eleanor Vance, Botanica Aurea began as a small cutting garden and apothecary in the English countryside. Eleanor believed flowers were not merely decoration but living poetry, each bloom telling a story of season, soil, and soul. Her meticulous arrangements for local manor houses soon garnered attention for their unique blend of wild elegance and structured grace.

Under the guidance of her granddaughter, Isabella Vance-Harrington, the studio evolved into a globally recognized atelier. Today, we operate from our sun-drenched flagship studio in Mayfair, London, and a dedicated growing estate in the Cotswolds, where we cultivate rare heirloom varieties and experiment with sustainable biodynamic practices.

Our philosophy remains unchanged: to create transcendent floral experiences that honor the ephemeral beauty of nature while achieving timeless design. Every stem is thoughtfully sourced, every composition is a balance of color, texture, and form, and every piece is an original work of art meant to stir emotion and create lasting memory.

Milestones

Our Journey Through Time

1952

Humble Beginnings

Eleanor Vance opens her garden gate to the public, offering bespoke bouquets from her family's estate. Her first major commission arrives from a nearby country house for a summer ball.

1978

Expansion to London

Eleanor's daughter, Clara, establishes a small studio in Chelsea, introducing the Botanica Aurea aesthetic to London society. The studio becomes known for its innovative use of foliage and architectural lines.

2005

Global Recognition

Isabella Vance-Harrington takes the helm, launching the wedding division. Botanica Aurea designs the floral architecture for its first royal event, cementing its reputation for large-scale, immersive installations.

2020

Sustainable Futures

Acquisition of the Cotswolds estate allows for complete control over our supply chain. We commit to 100% peat-free, organic cultivation and achieve Carbon Neutral certification for our studio operations.

Our Ethos

The Botanica Aurea Philosophy

Seasonal Integrity

We design with the rhythm of nature, championing locally-grown, in-season blooms at their peak of perfection. Our collections celebrate the unique beauty of each passing month.

Artisanal Craft

Every arrangement is hand-tied, every installation is personally overseen. We reject mass production in favor of the human touch, where skill, intuition, and passion define the final piece.

Sustainable Stewardship

From our no-waste composting program to our partnerships with ethical growers worldwide, we are committed to a floral industry that protects and regenerates the environment it depends upon.

Timeless Beauty

Trends fade, but true elegance endures. We create florals that feel both of-the-moment and eternal, designed to be remembered long after the last petal has fallen.
